☕ CoffeeChat Weekly: Powerful Questions, Team Holidays, & Second-Half Strategies
Opportunities & Insights from Across Our Community
Happy Monday!
In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, professionals must learn how to ask powerful questions to fully harness the full potential of AI tools and help others discover new perspectives on the challenges they face.
Powerful questions can help individuals and organizations think critically, facilitate problem-solving, and encourage innovation.
With AI tools like ChatGPT, we’ve quickly come to know that we get much better results by asking more clearly crafted questions or prompts such as “Could you outline a step-by-step plan for managing my email inbox more effectively during the workday?“, rather than just “How can I manage my email inbox?“
But are we applying this same logic to the questions we ask of our team members? Are we just asking “How do the numbers look this week?” rather than taking the time to craft a more powerful set of questions for our team, such as “On a scale of 1 to 10, how did we perform this week compared with what we think we’re capable of?“ or “Were there any barriers to success or key learnings that we could apply in future weeks?”
I challenge you this week to try pausing on at least one occasion before rushing to respond to a colleague or manager, and more intentionally craft your question. Let’s see the magic work - and do let me know how it goes!
If you like the exercise of crafting powerful questions, then I also encourage you to sign up for our peer coaching network, where anyone can develop and practice the essential skills of active listening and powerful questions. Apply here.
